Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11 so this week is all about Fire Prevention!

 I love Richard Scarry and his Busytown friends!
My students are crazy about his Big Word Book.
In this Scarry book, the Busytown firehouse is being painted as the firefighters try to do their jobs.
Neat book with firefighter facts and Richard Scarry fun!



A Day in the Life of a Firefighter by Linda Hayward
 This nonfiction book is perfect for young readers!
Chock full of photographs and labels, it gives children a real look at the life of firefighters!

The Fire Cat by Esther Averill
 It's a classic and one of my favorites!
A sweet cat is adopted by a firehouse and learns how to help the firefighters.

Great book for beginning readers.

 Maybe it's my childhood, but I love a Little Golden Book!
Kids love this Little Golden that shows firefighters actually fighting a fire!
Teachers will love the retro feel!

 You know you can't go wrong with Gail Gibbons!
Her books are full of information even the smallest learners can understand!

 I love a thematic alphabet book!
This one is great for introducing fire safety vocabulary to kiddos!
The boys, especially, love this one!

 This series of books about occupations gives children a look at real jobs.
Most kiddos are fascinated by firefighters.
